BIOGRAPHY
Hannah has been rockin' the violin since the age of 10 & started singing some years later. Classically trained, growing up in choir and loving the Beatles, Lord of the Dance, and Vivaldi as a kid, there's not a musical style she doesn't consume or want to learn more about. At Columbia College Chicago she earned her Bachelor's in Music Composition in 2012, and also received an extensive violin performance education while being able to dip her fingers in many new musical worlds such as bluegrass, jazz, metal, and minimalism. Throughout this training, she demonstrated a particular knack for 'fiddle-style' playing. She was fortunate to be selected for a semester in LA opportunity during her senior year, where she learned about the film composing scene. The final for this program was to write and orchestrate a score to film, and was recorded by an orchestra of professionals at the historic Raleigh Studios. Here is the piece Hannah wrote and conducted herself for this session: Battle Cue for Pancho Villa. This is where her passion for film music really took off. Her knowledge of the violin mixed with this study really amplified her understanding of this writing style, and consistently shows up in her work as both a writer and performer.
Hannah served as the concertmaster of The Chicago Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra in 2010 having been involved with this group and The Lake Shore Symphony Orchestra for many years prior. From here, she got the opportunity to embrace her inner cowgirl as the fiddler and lead-female singer for the Midwest's favorite country cover band Suburban Cowboys for 6 years, establishing her as a sought-after performer in the Chicago band scene. Through this opportunity, she joined Made in America a Toby Keith tribute band for a time, and played violin with Trippin Billies for a year, (the nation's most renowned Dave Matthews tribute band).
Thanks to all this stage-performing, she's been fortunate to play on some of the Midwest's most iconic stages including the House of Blues, Chicago Theatre, The Metro, Lincoln Hall/Schuba's, The Vogue (Indianapolis, IN), Castle Theater (Bloomington, IL), 115 Bourbon Street, The Dixon Theater, Hey Nonny, Turner Hall (Galena, IL), Moonlight Theater, The Lyric Theater, The Arcada, and so many more. She has had the honor of opening for fantastic bands including Sixteen Candles, Sister Hazel, Phil Vasser, MisterWives, and perform alongside artists like Keith Anderson, Jim Peterik (Survivor), and Tom Higgenson (Plain White T's).
Now, she has a happy musical home with The Right Stuff Entertainment (TRSE), performing in many of their kick ass bands including The Country Night, Sarah's Place (a Zach Bryan and Noah Kahan tribute band), American Pie and Country2K. She is also a key member of iconic Chicago band, Classical Blast. This band allowing her to tap into her Classical music roots and blend this with modern rock tunes, and created a need for her to become efficient on the viper violin, which really stretched her musical creativity and physicality!
In any of her spare time, she regularly picks up gigs with other Chicago bands like The Reckoning, Heads Carolina, Tim Gleason, Matt Martin Band, and the Greenleaf Band. On top of gigging her weekends away, she is the founder, music director, and contractor of her own DIY start up business called Chicago Street Strings. She books, manages, and oversees musicians for weddings and special events. To top it all off, she enjoys “Teaching Tuesdays” once a week, giving violin lessons at The Des Plaines School of Music. Hannah also creates custom string arrangements and sells her sheet music online!
Whether on stage or in the studio, Hannah is known for her enthusiastic performances, dedication, exemplary ear, versatile improvisations, proficient sight-reading, innate flexibility aka a very 'go-with-the-flow' attitude, and an extensive repertoire of country and rock tunes. To top it all off, she has a tendency to have a total blast with everything that she pursues. When she's not busy shredding and belting it out into the late evening hours, Hannah can be found working in her home studio, learning new music, diligently writing or collaborating on projects with other creatives. Most recently, Hannah has taken up streaming on Twitch under the alias Phunk Phiddler. Be sure to catch a stream soon and phollow her TTV channel! Want to collaborate with Hannah? Click here!
